Website as a service
A new website with no one-off fee for building it. You pay monthly, and the price covers the website, hosting, domain, backups, updates and small changes. The minimum term is 24 months. After that the website is yours and you decide whether to continue with care or take it over.
What it is
A website as a service is the same website I build to order, you just do not pay for it at once. The build price is spread into monthly payments and I look after the site the whole time: hosting, domain, backups, updates and small content changes. You do not deploy, renew or worry about where the site runs.
It suits you when you need a website now but do not want to spend tens of thousands up front. It is not an endless rental: once the minimum term is met, the website is yours.
Which website you can have as a service
A website as a service is always tied to one of the website development options. The scope is the same as with a one-off purchase.
What the monthly payment covers
For the whole term. You pay nothing else on top.
- Building the website in the scope of the chosen option, including one round of revisions
- Hosting, domain and an HTTPS certificate
- Daily backups, updates and uptime monitoring
- Small content changes of up to 30 minutes a month — swapping copy, a photo or a price
- Fixes for bugs on the site that are my fault
New pages and features, larger design changes and copywriting are outside the monthly payment. I quote them up front at the hourly rate and do them only once you approve.
How it works over time
Three phases. You know the terms of each before signing.
-
1
Start: meeting, scope and buildWe write down the scope just like a one-off project. I build and launch the website. You start paying from the month the site goes live, not before.
-
2
Months 1 to 24: you pay monthly, I look after the siteThe site runs on hosting I provide. Backups, updates and small changes are included. The domain is registered in your name from day one.
-
3
After month 24: the website is yoursThe term is over and the whole website passes to you, including the source code and credentials. You choose one of the two paths below.
What happens when the term ends
There are only two paths. I will not keep renting the website to you, nor keep it for myself.
Exact terms
A summary of what is in the contract, so you know what you are signing up for.
- A website as a service is always tied to one website option: a one-page presentation or a business website of up to 5 pages
- The minimum term is 24 months from launch, paid monthly in advance
- If you end the arrangement before the term is over, you pay the remaining months up to 24 and I hand the website over just as at a regular end
- The domain is registered in your name from the start; the code and hosting credentials pass to you once the full term is paid
- After the term the website continues only with care (Basic, Plus or Premium), or you take it over and pay for and handle it yourself
- The monthly price does not change during the term and is final — I am not VAT registered
